PAI’s international experience spans virtually every mode of rail transportation including
light rail, subway cars, airport people movers, maglev, high-speed rail and automated guideway transit.
PAI is seeking the talents, experience, and commitment of a senior vehicle
engineer to join our Kingston, Ontario Office.

| Assignments |
The successful candidate will report to the Chief Engineer. The vehicle engineer will be involved in multiple assignments that could for example include:
- Support to Transit Agencies in the oversight of rail vehicle design, production, qualification, delivery and acceptance;
- Support to Transit Agencies or Car-builders for specific technical issues related to vehicle design or delivery;
- Support to Car-builders in the development of proposals for the supply of rail vehicles.

| Responsibilities |
- Ensure work products, including plans, analyses and models meet stated and implicit technical requirements
- Ability to manage a variety of independent assignments
- Able and willing to travel internationally

| Requirements |
The successful candidate shall possess the
following combination of education, skills and experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (Mechanical or Electrical)
- 15+ years of Rail/Transit Systems Experience, with familiarity in rail car system design and system integration at a senior level. The following experience relative to the specific area of engineering expertise is considered an asset:

Experienced in the application of CENELEC or North American Standards;
-
Ability to develop the necessary designs, models and analyses required;
-
Ability to analyse failure modes and effects, develop fault trees and make recommendations on the mitigation strategy and close out of hazards in support of RAMS activities;

Ability to provide input or guidance on maintenance or training documentation or analyses;
-
Must be able to work in a multi-disciplinary transit environment, and be able to identify and understand hazards within such an environment;

Experience in material selection and testing related to Fire Smoke and Toxicity requirements;
-
If background is electrical then experience in EMC/EMI design, qualification, measurement, analysis and mitigation.

Professional Engineering license (P. Eng), or the ability to obtain certification or equivalent classification

Strong analytical skills including mathematics and statistics

Strong computer skills including MS Office and especially Word, Visio, Excel and Access
-
Effective verbal communication including listening and speaking skills

Effective written presentation and communication skills and the ability to guide others in the preparation of required analyses or reports

Able to develop and present technical papers on subject matter

Membership on related working groups or committees

Post graduate degree an asset

seeking the services of Independent Associates to work on a part-time, as
needed basis on both domestic and international projects. PAI is a mass
transit consulting firm based in Kingston, Ontario Canada. We have been in
operation since 1986 and our staff and associates have experience in
virtually all modes of ground transportation.
PAI was
acquired by Delcan Group Incorporated in October, 2007. This represents a
major milestone in the development of PAI because it allows us to grow and
to provide a greater range of services to our existing clients.

| Responsibilities |
Will be based on specific project requirements and will
likely include responsibilities such as preparation and/or review of
technical documentation, performance of independent assessment of
transit-related practices and processes, systems engineering activities and
technology reviews.

| Requirements |
You should be a registered Engineer or Technologist. PMP
accreditation is an asset, but is not a requirement. We are looking for
people with at least 15 years' experience in Railways, BRT, LRT, Subway,
Commuter, High Speed Rail, and/or Freight Rail with vehicle manufacturers,
transit authorities, subsystem suppliers or consulting firms.
The Independent Associate role will be of particular interest
to recent retirees and to established independent consultants who wish to
provide consulting services to an additional client. Potential Associates
may perform tasks ranging from a few hours, to more extended periods of
time, including short-term, full time assignments at various locations.
